The first petroglyphs (rock engravings) found in the Canary Islands were discovered in the Prehispanic settlement of Belmaco in the 18th century. Since then, the place has become a point of reference for all those interested in the past of the island. Ten natural caves and an area of cave paintings make up this archaeological park, which has been declared a Historic Artistic Monument. The main cave shows magnificent housing conditions and was permanently occupied by Benahoaritas (aborigines).
